Arizona – Cowboy history, Mines, Desert biking, Prehistoric Ruins, Fun with family, Model T’s, Prisons, Cactus flowers, and Trumps wall

Just after crossing the border into Arizona we started noticing some quite interesting rock formations along the sides of the highway
This one looked as if it was precariously teetering up there!
Took a tour through Kartchner Caverns, but they had a rule of absolutely no pictures 🤷🏻‍♀️ so this sign is our only picture 🤓

TOMBSTONE – This place is just like no other! 🤠 Some really great history here also!

Wyatt Earp
Had a great lunch here at the Crystal Palace
Apparently this cart was the ‘poop cart’ used by the miners deep in the mine shaft
and the guy with job of moving this cart back up to the surface and unloading it got paid a bit more money per hour than the miners 😖
Desert biking is a little rough on bike tires! 😬

BISBEE – About a 30 minute drive from our campsite – Huge open pit mine sight! And a fun visit to their Saturday Farmers Market. We had planned on walking around the historic downtown area, but it was literally crawling with people so we passed on that

This massive pit is just on the side of the road entering Bisbee
The size of it is just incredible!

Travelling to YUMA we took a little one hour side trip to see the CASA GRANDE RUINS

Arrived in YUMA March 5th … finally get see family after 9 months on the road! 🥰

We all stayed the beautiful Cocopah Golf & RV Resort where my sister Ruth and her husband Don have been since January
Lynn, Monique, Me, and my brother Dave
My younger sister Ruth and me
Lynn and Dave golfing on the course that’s right in the Cocopah Resort. It’s in great shape and is only $30 for 18 holes!
Even just riding in their golf cart was fun!
Almost everyday we played a few games of shuffleboard
There was much laughter!
My Movie Star sister! 🥰

We did get a some time and appreciated getting lessons on the pickleball courts, but mostly we just enjoyed watching and gleaning what we could from the professionals 😁

Ruthie and Don toured all of us around to all the highlights. First stop was the CLOUD MUSEUM. This guy has been collecting pieces over the past 33 years! And it is quite a collection! Interesting place!

Don Vermette and Dave Lind
That’s the owner in the golf cart there. He rode around and made himself available for questions and told stories about the pieces he’s collected etc.
and it wasn’t just all old cars … there was pretty much everything possible ‘old’ thing you could imagine there
This is a 1920 Maytag 1 cylinder washing machine! The owner there in the cowboy hat offered to give us a demonstration!
1930 Model A ‘House Car’ (I guess they weren’t called motorhomes quite yet) 😂
Pretty skookum for 1930!

Next day the party ventured down to OLD DOWNTOWN YUMA

Those lovely men waiting patiently there while we shop 🥰
We spent a lovely afternoon here and ate more great food!

Next day we visited the old YUMA TERRITORIAL PRISON

Had a little fun at the photo-ops
😳 😬 😨
Sheesh! 😬 Harsh

The Desert flowers were just starting to bloom so we went on a hike to see if we could see some

Such a different world out in the desert!
Saw evidence of the wild donkeys 💩 but didn’t get lucky enough to spot any on this day
Amazing that something so beautiful can come out of a not so pretty cactus!
Very mini church out in the middle of a field

We had planned to leave Yuma on Mar.13th but decided to stay one more day and visit the CASTLE DOME MINE site. The buildings at this site were located at many different small mining sites throughout the desert. They were collected, moved, and preserved at this site for display and to protect them from any further decay or vandalism.

Just two cowboys waitin on the
310 to Yuma

On our last evening in Yuma, with the backdrop of another spectacular Arizona sunset, they drove us out to see a portion of the Trump Wall 👊 which apparently has had progress made on it since their last visit out to see it … so it’s still being built

On to California … 😎
