MAMMOTH CAVE NATIONAL PARK

Worlds longest cave at 400 miles long … and still discovering more! – aptly named MAMMOTH

It’s really hard to take pictures inside caves

We very much enjoyed driving through Kentucky … much of it on scenic routes off the interstate through small towns and stopping at Farmers Markets along the way. Such a beautiful state with lush green countryside and well manicured properties! Everyone must own at least one zero-turn mower and we noticed quite a few huge tractors with attached mowers that looked like they’d do a 20 feet wide swath! … they’re mowing everything in Kentucky! Not just yards, they’re mowing acres of fields, even all the ditches along the road! Almost every house includes a big front porch, white pillars, and at least one American flag πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ or something with the flag colours 😁 We had to laugh as we drove through one little hamlet and could only see two buildings there – a massive whiskey distillery on one side of the road and a cute little Baptist Church across the street πŸ˜†

Came across this Country Market on a bike ride one day. There was even a band playing at this one! Decided to stay for supper since they had a food truck there also. The cook was making something interesting which apparently is a Kentucky favourite – the ‘Blooming Onion’ – battered and deep fried sweet onion – we thought it looked very interesting but didn’t end up trying one πŸ™ƒ

Kentucky Blooming Onion
His wife wouldn’t dance with him so he picked up his dog!
Played everything from Bluegrass, to Country, to old Rock & Roll. Amazing talent and playing for tips for a Market
Lynn couldn’t believe there was a Moonshine vendor at a Market! They gave him a sample Haha

ABE LINCOLN – Memorial to a great leader with great character!

“With malice toward none With charity toward all”
The cabin is the only thing inside this monument
Always a willing subjectπŸ˜†
