While planning and researching for this trip one of the things I came across was something called Harvest Hosts which had recently amalgamated with Boondockers Welcome. The membership identifies over 8500 locations across Canada and the United States where travellers can request free 1-5 night stays at businesses, farms, residences etc. All offering varying options and a different experience; everything from a spot to park in their driveway overnight to farms or businesses that offer some or all hookups for free! The hosts have all been very friendly and helpful giving recommendations of must see stops and attractions in their area of the country.
Recently we stayed at a place called Cedar Creek Gardens just south of Regina Saskatchewan. We spoke with the owners who extolled stories of the different themed, annual 18 acre corn maze they’re currently prepping for! We walked all around the property and saw rabbits co-habituating with chickens, two nice little Shetland ponies, and the coolest huge western style mini golf course we’ve ever seen! This membership has already paid for itself in site savings for us! I would highly recommend it for any fellow RV’ers … it has proven to be a really great decision
