Old sites, BIG stuff and Upper Canada Pumpkinferno

Passing back through New Brunswick on route to Quebec, we hadn’t planned on doing or seeing anything but stuff just happened and I didn’t want to miss posting fun things … so here it is 😁

Kings Landing was created in the late 1960s when the Mactaquac Dam threatened to flood many of the historic buildings in the Saint John River valley. Over 70 historic buildings were saved and either moved to the Kings Landing site or were disassembled and reconstructed at the site.  Our visit to Kings Landing transported us back to 19th century New Brunswick, complete with full-costumed, and in character residents! We had the best day here! and kept thinking of people we knew who would also love to visit this place.

Working Flour Mill and Lumber Mill
Flour Mill guy answering all Lynn’s questions … who knows maybe we need a Flour Mill &/or a Lumber Mill on the Farm 🤷🏻‍♀️ Haha 😅 🤓
It was such a beautiful Fall day! 🍁 🍂
So many interesting and beautiful old buildings
Dutch Oven – hot coals under and on top of the pot
They were baking turkey stuffing – it smelled amazing!! 😋
They were making wreaths from grape vines
Apparently this is a treadmill saw. The horse walks on the ramp which runs the
saw to cut the wood … genius!
Two old guys shootin the breeze
A very knowledgeable young man and really loved his job there! We enjoyed our visit with him
We looked at this interesting thing for a while and could not figure out what it would be used for but it sure was sturdy and the very smooth wood indicated it had been well used
Carved out of a huge piece of stone!
Lynn said this was a seed drill
“Privies” HAHA 😆

Visited two WORLD’S LARGEST things all in the same day!

Shediac, New Brunswick – of course we HAD to stop here 🦞
and I HAD to pose for a pic with the lobster 😁
Nackawic, NB
Lynn’s turn to pose 🤓

Camped right along the St. Lawrence in Upper Canada, Ontario

Just in the distance, on the other side of the St.Laurence you can see New York … about as close as we plan to get to it 🙃
Walked down to the waters edge on our first night to watch this beautiful sunset in the company of a few fellow campers
SO pretty, it looks like a painted picture!
Miles and miles of beautiful paved bike trails
Road our bikes over to the village to check out the site of the PumpInferno we had tickets to the next night
1813 Battlefield Memorial
Had some fun here then bought a delicious beaver tail treat to take home and have with our tea! ☕️
